$68,000.00 USD Annual

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The SmartStart for Type 2 Diabetes research laboratory, led by Dr. Eyitayo Owolabi (Registered Nurse) within the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University, is seeking a vibrant and passionate bilingual Research Specialist. The Research Specialist will play a key role in a recently funded NIH three-year project and other related innovative projects aimed at developing, testing, and scaling digitally enhanced interventions to improve type 2 diabetes outcomes for underserved populations. The Research Specialist will lead and coordinate activities related to the ongoing studies’ aims, work collaboratively with principal investigators, other investigators, stakeholders, and student trainees. The Research Specialist will be responsible for identifying and acquiring necessary resources for the timely execution of the study and accomplishment of the goals. The specialist will be able to contribute to scholarly writings, presentations and other related dissemination efforts, a key step in their professional development. Please note: This position will transition to part-time during the second and third year of the project.
Salary: $48,800 - $68,000

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Evidence of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing, Sociology, Psychology, Social work or other related fields.
  • Evidence of being able to speak, write, and read in English and Spanish (bilingual)
  • Willing to commit to the position for 2 years or more.
  • Experience working with clinical population, such as those with diabetes or hypertension.
  • Experience working in the community with culturally diverse group of people.
  • Experience tracking progress, projects, follow-up, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Experience working with, and fostering partnerships with organizations.
  • Experience in identifying and taking actions to mitigate conflicts.
  • Great time management skills.
  • Competency in using data management programs (REDCap), qualitative analysis software (e.g. Nvivo) and statistical software (e.g. SPSS)
  • Knowledge of research methods, data collection (focus groups, interviews, surveys) and analyses.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain calendar for project.
  • Work from general instructions on standard job duties and specific directions/instructions on new
    assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Work with the PI to Identify project scope, goals, milestones and keep detailed record of project progress
  • Builds, develops, and maintains relationships vital to the project success
  • Contribute to various recruitment efforts
  • Screening, recruiting, and enrolling participants
  • Administering informed consent, conducting self-report surveys, interviews
  • Plans and facilitate focus group discussions
  • Data management activities, including data entry, cleaning, and preparation for analysis
  • Contribute to qualitative data analysis
  • Supporting participant retention efforts, assisting in the development of project materials, reports, and
  • publications
  • Training and coordination of volunteer students’ activities
  • Contribute to the development of progress reports for both internal and external reporting
