The Translational Lab (PI: Dr. Peter Hitchcock) in the Department of Psychology at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) is seeking a full-time Research Specialist. The Translational Lab applies computational tools to elucidate how decision-making goes awry in depression and anxiety disorders and to develop powerful interventions to improve it (translational-lab.com).
The research specialist position will offer exposure to all stages of research. It is ideal for someone considering graduate school in clinical psychology, cognitive science, computational neuroscience, or related areas, and who is interested in translational and interdisciplinary research. Dr. Hitchcock is highly committed to mentorship, including helping his mentees reach their next career stage.
Research specialist responsibilities will include assisting in:
- Establishing and managing lab infrastructure, such as IRB protocols, lab resources (wiki, procedures for experiments and documentation, etc.), and finances
- Developing and programming experimental paradigms
- Recruiting and screening participants
- Acquiring and managing data
- Lab coordination (e.g., lab events, working with undergraduate RAs)
- Analyzing data and preparing manuscripts
