Queensland Aphasia Research Centre (QARC) | School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Full-time or part-time (80-100% FTE negotiable), fixed-term position for 2 years Base salary will range from $104,616 - $113,920 (HEW Level 7) + 17% Superannuation Based at the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) at our Herston campus About This Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Speech Pathologist to support and deliver high‑quality clinical aphasia research within the Queensland Aphasia Research Centre (QARC), a UQ centre operating in partnership with the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS). Reporting to Professor David Copland, this position involves conducting clinical and research assessments with adults with aphasia and other communication disabilities across hospital, community, and telehealth settings; delivering evidence‑based research therapy programs; and supporting the coordination and national implementation of research trials. This position will also contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the Aphasia Tech Hub, a bespoke service designed to promote accessible technology solutions for people with aphasia. Key responsibilities will include: Support and deliver clinical aphasia research across hospital, community, and telehealth settings, including participant recruitment and consent, ethics and governance processes, evidence-based assessment and therapy, and adherence to GCP and ethical standards. Collect, manage, and analyse high-quality clinical and research data, including assessment scoring, data entry, reporting, and contributing to study monitoring, project coordination, and national implementation trials. Build and support clinical research capacity through collaboration with speech pathologists, QARC research staff, and multidisciplinary teams, providing education, guidance, clinical advice, and contributing to research networks and implementation initiatives. About You Completion of a tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology. Demonstrated clinical experience and interest in working with people with aphasia, with the ability to apply advanced clinical knowledge and skills to develop and deliver comprehensive, evidence‑based aphasia therapy programs (including impairment‑based, functional, and computer‑based approaches). High‑level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships, manage clinical research issues sensitively and assertively, and effectively engage with a diverse range of colleagues, research participants, and stakeholders. High level of computer literacy, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent administrative and organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage time, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure. Demonstrated analytical and research skills, including the ability to complete high‑quality data collection, scoring, data entry, and analysis. Understanding of confidentiality, privacy, and information‑handling principles in accordance with ethics and governance requirements. Desirable Experience delivering aphasia management via telehealth and using aphasia treatment software. Familiarity with UQ data management systems, including REDCap. Prior experience working within clinical research environments.
