Your New Role!
The Research Support Assistant delivers comprehensive support at the Harry Butler Institute, enabling senior researchers to effectively progress their research projects.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to –

  • Supporting a range of services to HBI under the direction of the Office Manager; including:
  • Facilitating recruitment support and onboarding of new employees and exiting of staff,
  • Facilitating financial administration processes associated purchasing and reimbursement requests,
  • Facilitate travel booking requests; logistics and compliance, safety and ethics,
  • Support the management of assets,
  • Provide project support, including administration, invoicing, reporting and organising regular team meetings,
  • Support and promote compliance with relevant legislation and university policies and procedures,
  • Participate in committees and working parties related to HBI operations and research as required.

This Fixed Term (ending 12/2025) | Part Time (22.5 hours per week - potential increased hours for the right candidate) attracts a remuneration of $71,000 – $88,000 (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Completion of a diploma level qualification with relevant work experience and/or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience in business operational support or office administration.
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in the production of high-level work using software such as Microsoft Office and specified university software programs.
  • High level of organisational, time and workload management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines.
  • Effective communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organisation and external stakeholders.
