About the role
We are seeking a friendly, engaged, and well-organised administrator to become part of the Research Professional Services (PS) Team in the Faculty of Media, Arts & Humanities.
The role covers an interesting and varied range of tasks and will involve interacting with a wide range of colleagues, academic researchers, and postgraduate researchers (who are working towards a PhD) in the Faculty.

Working as a member of the Research PS team you will coordinate tasks across the research portfolio for both academic and postgraduate researchers (PGR) including:

  • Supporting the postgraduate researcher journey, from admission and induction to completion covering a range of responsibilities and processes throughout the academic year.
  • Acting as a first point of contact for general queries by PGRs and Researchers in the faculty primarily via email
  • Working on a variety of research projects and events, as part of a team,
  • Managing data records on the University system
  • Financial activities, including procurement, expenses, and invoices as well as bursaries and scholarships and internal funding allocations using established spreadsheets
  • Organising and minuting meetings
  • Being a key point of support and coordination for Faculty-based research and postgraduate research activities and administrative tasks.
  • Providing administrative support to faculty and postgraduate researchers in conjunction with the PGR Faculty Lead, Associate Dean for Research & Innovation, Senior Research Manager, and colleagues in the Research Professional Services team, the Sussex Researcher School and elsewhere in the University as required.

  • You will enjoy following directions and processes ensuring that accurate information and instructions are shared correctly
  • This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, creative, and dynamic team of Research-focused Professional Services staff, who are vital to the smooth running of this Faculty.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent spoken and written communication and organisation skills as well as experience of using databases and Microsoft Office.
  • A qualification in the arts and humanities is not a requirement for this post
