MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Ability and willingness to handle laboratory mice, including breeding, maintenance, and procedures as needed.
  • Basic proficiency with computers, including internet browsing, order processing systems, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to comprehend instructions, follow protocols, and perform precise, accurate work when handling samples and chemicals.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to compute basic mathematical operations such as rates, ratios, percentages, molarity, and unit conversions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for documenting procedures, summarizing data, and collaborating effectively with team members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working with laboratory mice, PCR genotyping and molecular biology techniques are highly desirable.
Responsibilities

The Lee Laboratory in the Cardiovascular Biology Research Program (CVB) at the OMRF is seeking a Research Technician to support ongoing investigations into the mechanisms of heart disease using mouse models and molecular biology techniques. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage mouse colony (breeding, ear tagging).
  • Perform injections, blood, and tissue sample collection.
  • Conduct histology and surgical procedures (after proper training).
  • Perform PCR genotyping.
  • Quantify RNA and protein levels.
  • Prepare reagents and order supplies.
  • Maintain and organize the laboratory.
  • Collect experimental data.
  • Present findings to the Principal Investigator.

Assignments are typically non-routine and variable in nature.
