Job Description
The Research Technician II, under general supervision performs semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of assignments requiring modification and adaptation to routine procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on the successful completion of tasks assigned.
This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Support faculty and other researchers in all research initiatives at the poultry unit. Participate in the data collection and analysis processes for poultry research studies.
  • Ensure that buildings and equipment are ready for conducting research. Coordinate and maintenance outdoor facilities and laboratory equipment and supplies for the poultry unit.
  • Assist with teaching poultry science laboratory classes.
  • Maintain all record-keeping systems of all research and inventory of equipment at the poultry unit.
  • Participates and assists in college-wide events, activities, committees and performs other duties as deemed necessary.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal, pre-vet, or Related Sciences.
  • Some experience working with Poultry husbandry, slaughtering, processing, fabrication.
  • Some experience in laboratory procedures.
  • Prior experience in conducting research.
  • Ability to communicate orally and to be able to write manuscripts.
  • Previous experience working with animals.
  • Be able to statistically analyze research data.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.
  • Ability to exert heavy force.
  • Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends.
