Description:
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
The Stoner Lab at the University of Arizona’s School of Natural Resources and the Environment is seeking to hire a research technician to support PhD Candidate Mallory Davies in the development of a PIT tag detection device to be fitted to hummingbird feeders. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
- Three years of relevant field experience; OR, Equivalent combination of education and work experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, wildlife biology or related fields.

- Has acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to be proficient in all aspects of job, such as knowledge and skills in the development of PIT tag detectors and antenna systems.
- Familiarity and use of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel), ArcGIS, R, and/or Garmin BaseCamp

Principle Responsibilities:
- Operates, maintains and troubleshoots scientific apparatuses, equipment and instruments.
- Collects and compiles research data. Completes basic calculations of test results.
- Sets up and performs a variety of lab or field tests and operations. Records results, makes observations, analyzes data, and interprets test results.
- Modifies existing equipment or designs and fabricates requisite equipment.
- Collaborates in the development of new strategies, techniques and equipment.
- Coordinates the acquisition of lab supplies.
Science Communication:
Principle Responsibilities:
- Provide basic instruction to others on the use of this equipment by running workshops and creating protocols.
- Participates in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative results.
