GENERAL PURPOSE
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers and biologists. The research group studies engineering and genetic strategies to manipulate cell function in multicellular systems, with a particular focus on mechanobiology to understand how functional tissues are formed during development. The research employs cutting-edge techniques in molecular biology, optogenetics, microscopy and imaging, using as systems mammalian cells (in vitro) and Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly). The candidate will perform hands-on experimental work, data collection, data entry and analysis. The candidate will be responsible for establishing experimental procedures and protocols and will participate in regular meetings with the PI and other lab members. While work will be performed under the general supervision of the PI or a lab manager, the successful candidate will be expected to work independently.
