MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Candidate should be highly organized, detail oriented with strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and to recognize when problems arise. Prior experience in handling human subject-derived biospecimens is preferred. Working knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Outlook and Excel) required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position provides research support to public health surveillance projects and clinical trials in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. The employee will be responsible for processing human subject-derived biospecimens and performing complex molecular pathogen detection assays under the guidance of laboratory management. Position involves coordinating and collaborating with lab staff and research coordinators for tracking and timely processing of biospecimens as well as packing and shipping specimens to collaborators. Operating and maintaining specialized scientific equipment, ordering laboratory supplies and reagents, and adhering to established protocols and procedures is expected (including ordering of laboratory supplies and reagents in compliance with all University and Departmental standards and procedures). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is essential.
