Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, plans and executes laboratory projects and experiments. Selects and modifies methodology. Analyses and interprets data. Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Maintains equipment.
More precisely, the incumbent will perform a variety of specialized technical tasks, for projects and experiments, according to different research protocols in the field of MRI (e.g., functional MRI, MR spectroscopy, MR imaging). Apply principles and applications of Magnetic Resonance. Assumes responsibility for the technical aspects in the execution of these projects.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and executes laboratory projects and experiments within objectives set by supervisor. Performs literature searches, reviews, selects and modifies methodology.
- Compiles experimental and analytical data. Prepares reports. Analyses and discusses results and their interpretation with others. Participates in devising new methodology. Maintains records and files.
- Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Provides technical guidance and assistance concerning work methods, the use of equipment and techniques, and the analysis of results.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations in the use of equipment. Ensures proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Three (3) years of related experience in Research fMRI, Spectroscopy and Clinical MRI. Demonstrated ability to operate an MRI machine. Have a valid license by being a member of the Ordre des technologues en imagerie médicale, en radio-oncologie et en électrophysiologie médicale du Québec (OTIMROEPMQ).
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
