Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Derek Tan Lab as a Research Technician! The Tan Lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center develops innovative small molecules and chemical tools to investigate biological processes and discover new therapeutic opportunities in cancer and infectious diseases. You will help create and evaluate novel compounds that could become the foundation for future targeted therapies, directly contributing to the development of more effective treatments for patients. Role Overview: Laboratory Support: Assist with general lab operations, including reagent preparation, inventory management, and compound handling. Techniques & Assays: Perform chemical biology assays, screening workflows, sample processing, and basic microbiology/cell culture; operate RapidFire mass spectrometry; organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry (optional). Data Management: Maintain accurate experimental records, track compounds, and document assay results. Collaboration: Work closely with graduate students and postdocs; contribute to research projects. Key Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, or related field. Prior research experience in a laboratory setting; chemistry, chemical biology, or biochemistry focus is required. Core Skills: Attention to detail and strong record-keeping habits. Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed. Team-oriented approach to supporting postdocs and fellow researchers. Adaptability in a dynamic lab environment.
