RESEARCH TECHNOLOGIST (TERM FULL-TIME)

Technology Access Centre for Aerospace and Manufacturing
POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated June 30, 2025 up to March 31, 2028)
SALARY: $56,607 - $79,848 per annum
POSITION LOCATION: Notre Dame Campus (Winnipeg, MB)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
  • Significant experience in 3D CAD software such as Inventor, Solidworks, or similar programs
  • Experience with design, analysis, and prototyping of mechanical systems and components
  • Hands-on experience in the design and fabrication of machines, tools, and fixtures
  • Experience working in the aerospace / manufacturing industry
  • Ability to undertake multiple tasks with limited supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing
  • Experience in mechanical or thermal analyses utilizing FEA Software
Responsibilities

This position is responsible for developing and implementing applied research projects at RRC Polytech’s Technology Access Centre for Aerospace and Manufacturing (TACAM). The role supports applied research activities related to mechanical design and analysis, product development, and manufacturing. Key responsibilities include creating 3D CAD models and technical drawings, performing 3D scanning and 3D printing, developing specifications, and designing tools and fixtures. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support for prototyping and product development, including the integration of mechanical systems with other machines. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver solutions for industry partners and the preparation of technical reports for both internal and client-facing projects. The position will also contribute to technology workshops, knowledge transfer, and industry outreach initiatives.
