Description
About Magnus Metal Magnus Metal is modernizing metal casting through its digitally driven, highly automated manufacturing platform — Digital Casting™. We are transforming conventional foundry processes into a controlled, data-centric, scalable industrial system — connecting digital design directly to production (CAD-to-part). Our technology enables unique metallurgy, high repeatability, AI-driven process control, and a pathway toward distributed production and digital inventory. We operate at the intersection of materials science, automation, and industrial-scale system engineering — serving heavy industries including automotive tooling, construction equipment, mobility, and defense Duties and Responsibilities About the Role We are looking for a Researcher to join the CTO team, focusing on process study and phenomenon research to drive innovation for Magnus Metal’s current and future products. This role is centered on deep investigation of process phenomena — connecting materials science, process parameters, and system behavior into insights that shape our technology roadmap. You will serve as a key interface with the Engineering, Process, and Application groups. We are looking for a curious, detail-oriented person who loves to investigate phenomena deeply, while remaining pragmatic and goal-driven. Someone who believes every challenge has a solution — you just need to know where to look and not be afraid to dig in. Key Responsibilities Process Study & Phenomenon Research Investigate and characterize process phenomena within the Digital Casting™ platform Lead process studies to support innovation for current and future products Connect materials science, process parameters, and system behavior into actionable insights Translate research findings into improvements in mechanical properties, repeatability, and yield Experimental Design & Research Execution Design and implement structured DOE plans for module and full-system validation Coordinate and execute system and module-level experiments Analyze experimental data and translate findings into actionable optimization paths Ensure rigorous documentation and reporting standards Cross-Functional Interface Serve as a central interface with the Engineering, Process, and Application groups Translate research findings into practical guidance for process and application engineers Collaborate with engineering and algorithm teams to improve process understanding and stability Knowledge & Impact Train application engineers and tool owners Contribute to system-related IP initiatives Present technical findings clearly to cross-functional teams Requirements Requirements Education M.Sc. in Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline Experience 7–10+ years of experience working with complex multidisciplinary systems Background in metal casting, metallurgy, or heavy industrial systems — strong advantage; candidates with a metallurgy background are highly preferred Experience in 3D printing or additive manufacturing — advantage Strong expertise in DOE and data-driven optimization
Responsibilities
Lead process studies and phenomenon research to drive innovation for the Digital Casting platform. Translate research findings into actionable insights to improve mechanical properties, repeatability, and yield.
