We are looking for a Researcher to join our Product Chemistry and Analysis R&D team in Äänekoski, Finland. In this position, you will be part of a dynamic team that supports the growth, differentiation, and competitiveness of Nouryon’s cellulose derivatives business through deep understanding of chemistry, structure-function relationships, and process technology. In Äänekoski, the team operates a state-of-the-art pilot plant and analytical laboratory for key cellulose derivatives. In your work, you will collaborate closely with Nouryon’s application R&D teams, cellulose derivatives production sites, and various other business functions.

Responsibilities
  • Execute and/or support R&D projects, lab work requests, production optimization projects, production trials etc.
  • Develop new chemistries and synthesis routes for novel cellulose derivatives
  • Scale up new product prototypes and process innovations from bench scale to pilot scale, and eventually to full scale production
  • Develop pilot plant capabilities, operating procedures, and safety practices
