Description

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Reservoir Geophysicist to join Southern Area Reservoir Characterization Department.
The Southern Area Reservoir Characterization Department is responsible for providing characterization and assessment of oil resources of onshore developed fields at the highest definition required, with the aid of the latest technology, by building and maintaining integrated 3D geoscience earth models to evaluate all in-place oil resource pore volume volumetrics, support the optimization of oil field development, provide new hydrocarbon development opportunities and ensure excellence in well placement.
The Reservoir Geophysicist primary role is to interpret and integrate geophysical and geological data over producing fields for integrated reservoir study and well placement. Essentially this role is responsible for utilizing sound geophysical principals to assist in seismic data processing and seismic data Pre-stack and Post-stack seismic inversion products. Also, provides technical support and mentoring young professionals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

As a successful candidate you will hold a:

  • Bachelor Degree in Geophysics from an accredited university. Advanced degree in Geophysics is a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of solid experience as a Development Geophysicist with the last 4 years focusing on advanced geological/geophysical analyses.
  • An extensive experience in technical geophysics tasks such as well to seismic tie, seismic interpretation, and qualitative and quantitative seismic attribute demonstrated through actual work experiences.
  • Having skills in pre-stack/post-stack modelling and seismic inversion.
  • Good understanding of seismic acquisition and processing, rock physics, seismic inversion, and Amplitude Versus Offset (AVO) is also necessary.
  • The ability to hands-on experience using 3D seismic interpretation software (Landmark DSG, Petrel, etc.), and some advanced geophysical software.
  • Good understanding of seismic data acquisition and processing and well log data analysis.
Responsibilities

As a successful candidate you will be required to perform the following:

  • Perform seismic Interpretation (2D & 3D data), horizon picking, attribute analyses, interpretation of data Quality Control (QC), and structural mapping of complex carbonate and siliciclastic reservoirs.
  • Ability to characterize and Mapping of fault & fractures at reservoir levels.
  • Generating and utilizing seismic attributes for better characterizing fractures, faults, and other structural, stratigraphic and sedimentary features.
  • Generation of time and depth grids at different reservoir levels, and generation of synthetics.
  • Active and regular interaction with Reservoir Geologist, Operation Geologist, Reservoir Engineers, Sedimentologist and Log Analyst.
  • Handling regular interaction for Processing/Reprocessing of Seismic data.
  • Support operational geologist on well planning/drilling using existing interpretation, and observe and evaluate of any new findings and update interpretation accordingly.
  • Advice & support operation geologist on logging requirements specifically Vertical Seismic Profile (VSP).
  • Evaluate geophysical and geological data to map prospective areas/formations to look for upside potential for future field development.
  • Provide mentoring and technical assistance to young professionals.
