Here at Settle we are looking for an Resident and Building Safety Manager to take operational responsibility for the day-to-day management of all resident engagement to deliver on our retrofit investment target for all homes to achieve EPC C by 2030. You will own resident engagement ensuring collaboration with all stakeholders involved and the highest standards of customer service delivery large scale improvements at pace in residents’ homes. You will also lead on resident engagement on blocks under 18m where they are receiving remedial works.
You will take responsibility for ensuring Settle Group meets or exceeds quality, regulatory, and legislative requirements under the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act. The role is pivotal in ensuring residents feel safe and are safe in their homes, maintaining and communicating the Building Safety Case, managing risks, and fostering a culture of safety and engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all higher-risk buildings comply with the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated regulations.
  • Maintain and manage the Safety Case Report and Golden Thread of information for each HRB, ensuring records are kept up to date.
  • Act as the key point of contact for the Building Safety Regulator and prepare reports for internal governance and external regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee the safety case review cycle, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and control measures.
  • Work with asset, compliance, and fire safety teams to identify, manage, and mitigate building safety risks.
  • Oversee inspections, audits, and building safety checks; conduct regular site visits with contractors during surveys and works, providing technical support and assurance.
  • Review and critique specialist reports, including structural surveys, FRAEW, fire risk assessments and retrofit assessments, to ensure they are accurate.
  • Collaborate with external bodies (e.g., Fire & Rescue Services, Building Safety Regulator) to support proactive building safety, acting as the named BSM for HRBs on behalf of Settle
  • Represent Settle during inspections, audits or investigations led by statutory agencies and internal/external auditors.
  • Lead the delivery of effective resident engagement strategies on building safety, fire safety remediation and retrofit investment matters in line with legal duties whilst tailoring your approach to customer groups.
  • Ensure residents receive timely and clear information; respond to concerns and ensure their voices are reflected in decision-making.
  • Act as a trusted advocate for residents, minimising inconvenience from surveys, works and quality assurance activities ensuring that concerns are shared and acted upon, to ensure that residents are safe and feel safe
  • Manage communications related to changes in fire evacuation strategies and the operation of retrofit equipment.
  • Maintain a record of engagement with residents when requesting access, and as a last resort lead on tenancy escalation within agreed procedures.
  • Manage all complaints and compensation related to your activities.
  • Assist with the continued development of the Building Safety Management Plan, including information given to residents at sign-up, sale and handover.
  • Monitor performance of remedial works relating to fire, structural and retrofit, and monitor relevant KPIs.
