Description SUMMARY The Pathways to Care Resident Assistant/Medical Technician is responsible for assisting the facility residents with their daily living needs and program activities while adhering to client schedules; maintaining appropriate files, ensuring that patient records are accurate and complete; providing support to medical staff when needed; assist residents with self-administration of medication; assist the resident with daily living and hygiene, maintain a safe and clean environment for the residents. Provides assistance with program activities and encourages self-sufficiency and independence. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for clients, visitors, and volunteers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential duties and responsibilities include the following Include the following: Other duties may be assigned: General functions: Must be mature and have the ability to be a role model to clients (residents) to enable residents to be more responsible. Adhere to strict confidentiality of all client (resident) information. Agency follows all HIPAA guidelines. Have the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Possess the ability to meet and greet clients of various ethnic backgrounds with graciousness and respect and provide non-judgmental support. Be able to establish effective working relationships. Have a working knowledge and experience using standard office equipment. Have the willingness to be trained in using software packages that are specific to the position and/or required by the funding agency. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor own work to ensure quality. Be highly motivated, creative, energetic, dependable, and a team player. Possess the ability to multi-task, including handling multiple priorities. Volunteer readily; ask for and offer help when needed. Work when scheduled; begin and end work as expected; call in according to the policy when arriving late for work or when absent; observe provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act; observe policies on lunch periods and use work time appropriately. Have a commitment to Catholic values and support the tenants of Catholic Social teaching. Have the ability to set and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and staff. Other Duties & Responsibilities: Maintain a clean work environment. Greet new residents and give assistance as needed. Assist the team in identifying potential client-based challenges and provide input to others to ensure the flow of critical information including case documentation to highlight issues that occur while on shift. Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with resident activities as needed. Work in tandem with other Pathways to Care staff. Maintain accurate and timely records as required. Report the need for any equipment or facility repairs to the supervisor in a timely manner to ensure the safety of staff, residents, visitors, and volunteers. Follow shelter rules and regulations, enforcing them uniformly and consistently. Act in a responsible manner to ensure the safety of clients and property. Follow all policies and procedures of The Diocese of Orlando, Catholic Charities of Central Florida, Inc., and Pathways to Care. Maintain security of files and the facility at all times. Notify the supervisor immediately if any resident is disruptive, argumentative, or otherwise disorderly. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School graduate with 2 to 5 years’ experience in a residential housing setting or related field; prior experience in working with a homeless population. Have a working knowledge regarding all HIPAA regulations. Be able to read, write and keep accurate records. Undergraduate or graduate degrees and additional certification such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Technician (MT) certificate 6 hour course are also preferred. HOURS Pathways to Care facility is open 24 hours, must report to work on time; 7 days a week. CNA Resident Assistants (RA) are required to work scheduled shifts: 7 am to 3 pm; 3 pm to 11 pm; or 11 pm to 7 am. RA’s must provide seven-day availability and be willing to rotate shifts when necessary. In emergency situations, must be available to work a double shift. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The ability to sit and stand for long periods. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation.
