The Resident Assistant Coordinator plays a vital role in shaping the on-campus student experience by leading and supporting the Resident Assistant (RA) and Desk Assistant (DA) programs. This position is ideal for a collaborative, student-centered professional who is passionate about leadership development, engagement, and fostering a positive residential community. Through hands-on supervision, training, and program development, the Resident Assistant Coordinator helps ensure campus living is supportive, inclusive, and aligned with institutional values. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Develop hiring calendar to ensure regular position recruitment and fulfillment Manage interview and selection process to identify top candidates Collaborate with campus partners to ensure coordinated support in hiring process (Financial Aid, Student Accounts and Human Resources) Develop, coordinate, and deliver RA and DA training to include: Building rapport with residents Navigating roommate conflict Connecting students to resources Encouraging student engagement Weekly room checks Incident report forms Incident response protocol Working with campus security Maintenance forms Social program planning Move-in day support Evaluation process Host “extended meetings” at least once a month to provide additional training Build a social program development form to help students develop events and plan a budget for their event Continue to revise and refresh training curriculum Maintain regular check in meetings 1:1 with RAs and DAs as well as living communities (i.e., all Campus Courtyard RAs and DAs as a group) Implement and maintain an evaluation process to assess performance Work closely with Student Life Manager to coordinate RA support at major campus events and initiatives, such as signature events, student activities, service events, and student staff training Maintain hiring records for student positions Manage budget related to hiring student positions and RA social programming Work with supervisor to contribute to strategic planning and goal-setting for the Housing department Assist with scheduling, task delegation, and timesheet approval Maintain a supportive and developmentally focused work environment for student employees Assist team with campuswide student concerns reporting system Requirements Associated Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience Be solution oriented, resourceful, and proactive with?a strong sense?of responsibility and ownership.? Minimum Requirement (A combination of the following experience and training, or the equivalent of, would be qualifying): High school diploma or equivalent from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education Experience developing and implementing training. Would prefer a bachelor’s degree in communication, human resources, social work, counseling, education, or related fields. Experience working in housing, student development programs or a residential life program. Ability to design and evaluate training programs. Knowledge of community organizations and resources. Direct Reports to This Position Residential Assistants, Desk Assistants Physical Requirements Occasional evening or weekend hours to support programming. Ability to move across campus and assist with events or program activities. Light lifting (up to 25 lbs.) for materials and event setup.
