Resident Care is our largest department with over 70 full, part-time and casual staff, caring for 57 residents in AVEN Manor and the Territorial Dementia Facility. The Resident Care Aide is integral to ensuring that every Resident has a great day, every day. If you are someone who not only possesses the below qualifications, knowledge, skills and abilities, but also has compassion and empathy for your elders, and is a kind individual who puts others needs first, this may be a great potential opportunity for you! This is a permanent part-time position.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Completion of a Health Care Aide or a Long Term Care Aide Program from a recognized educational institution and have two years’ experience in a long term care setting. Equivalencies will be considered. The successful incumbent must have completed 159-110 - Pharmacology for Personal Support Workers (or its equivalent), and be qualified to administer medication. Experience working with an elderly population would be an asset. An acceptable criminal records check is required and must be maintained.

  • Knowledge of long term personal care, care for elderly persons and persons with dementia

  • Very good interpersonal skills including compassion and understanding for residents
  • Very good listening skills
  • Ability to work well as a team
