JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Resident Care Attendant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to residents in a retirement home with assisted living supports. Working in a team and independently, your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for seniors, including those with dementia and other cognitive and physical impairments. The ideal candidate will possess strong caregiving skills and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for our residents.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Proof of 2-step Tuberculosis Skin Test
  • Previous experience in caregiving within a nursing home, assisted living, or home care setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medication administration protocols and best practices in senior care preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working with individuals with dementia or other cognitive disabilities is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Ability to maintain a clean work environment and adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to improve the lives of seniors.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor residents for side effects or changes in condition (on-site UCP training provided and must be completed).
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Provide companionship and engage residents in social activities to promote mental well-being.
  • Maintain cleanliness in resident living areas and common spaces to ensure a hygienic environment.
  • Document resident care activities accurately and report any changes in health or behavior to the nursing staff.
  • Support residents with mobility challenges, ensuring their safety while moving around the facility.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
