Section: Resident Care
Division: Long Term Care Services
Department: Community Well-Being
Initial Reporting Location: 960 Notre Dame Avenue
Job Status: Contract Position
Estimated Probable Duration: Up to Eighteen (18) Months
Affiliation: Non union
Hours of Work: 70 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: On call rotation
Range of Pay: Group 14* - $4,365.90 to $5,135.90 bi-weekly

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Registered Nurse in possession of a current Certificate of Competence as issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and/or specialty in Gerontology from a recognized University with Canadian accreditation would be preferred.
  • Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) or training an asset.
  • PointClickCare will be considered an asset.
  • Completion of a CHICA Canada Infection Control course or other courses related to infection prevention and control will be considered an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three (3) years related supervisory experience in the Acute Care or Long Term Care setting.
  • Experience with electronic Resident Care Information System.
  • Demonstrate experience in supervision of staff and in labour relations.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Long Term Care Homes Act, 2007, and related legislation and regulations, and their application to the Home.
  • Best practices in accordance with CNO guidelines.
  • Horizontal linkages to other relevant governmental levels and services as well as the private sector.

ABILITIES TO:

  • Understand and meet the needs of customers.
  • Build the values of the organization into programs, services and policies.
  • Set and achieve high standards for the Home.
  • Create enthusiasm and motivation for employees.
  • Anticipate and manage the impact of change on the Home’s activities.

  • Demonstrate leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal, written and presentations skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provide, at own cost, a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Provide, at own cost, a Two-step Mantoux Test (TB).
  • Provide, at own cost, N95 Mask Fit.
