OBJECTIVE:

To provide and promote safe and optimal health care for the residents of Kipohtakawkamik and Keehewkamik (Alexander Health Services Facilities, AHSF)

5. PROVISION OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Confirm LPN’s registration annually by December 31 with CLPNA
  • Identifies educational/learning needs for LPN’s and HCA’s.
  • Facilitates registration, following approval of the Health Director, for any training opportunities for employees.
  • Guides team to resources (example websites: Alberta Health Services Continuing Care Connections)
  • Recruits organizations that can provide expertise in educational opportunities
  • Organizes and facilitates education workshops, in-services, telehealth and other types of educational sessions.
  • Adheres to and keeps current the Alberta Health Services Continuing Care Standard section 9.0 and Education spreadsheet.
  • Collaborates with the Nurse Manager on educational topics such as Privacy and Confidentiality, Alexander Health Services Infection Prevention and Control

8. STAFF EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Ensure the HCA’s are all registered on the Alberta Health Services website
  • Identify, organize and facilitate clinical enhancements and any other training opportunities
  • Guides the staff to resources, i.e. websites, for continuing education
  • Organizes and facilitates mandatory and pertinent workshops, in-services and training sessions in the following areas: infection prevention and control, privacy and confidentiality, documentation and chart audits, the ARJO tub and all safety procedures
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid and other certifications required, i.e. WHMIS
  • Recruit organizations that can provide educational services, training and opportunities.
  • Other training as required
  • Ensure annual training and practice of infection, control and PPE Protocol.
  • Collaborates with the Health Director, Nurse Manager, & Kip Admin Manager practice concerns between HCAs andor LPNs

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Must maintain a current CARNA registration
  • Follow all legislated laws related to the practice of nursing
  • Maintain current vaccinations and receive the annual flu immunization
  • Maintain current certificates in CPR, First Aide, WHMIS, TDG
  • Maintain current FNIH (Indigenous Health Services Canada) Innoculist Certificate
  • Must have a current Alberta Drivers License
  • Maintain a FNIH Foot Care Certification
  • Carry a cellular phone for communication and emergency fan out communications
  • A certification in Phlebotomy Certification or willing to take certification
  • Attend Workshops, In-Services and Conferences at the discretion of the Health Director
  • Understand and participate in the Accreditation process
  • Prepared to assist with other duties when requested by the Health Director
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $40.52-$53.91 per hour
    Expected hours: 37 per week
