We are seeking a highly organised and professional individual to join our Student Accommodation team as a Resident Coordinator | Kairuruku Wharenoho, based in central Auckland/Grafton (Waipārūrū Hall). This unique and varied role balances student welfare with operational management, focusing on the emotional, physical, and academic wellbeing of all residents. Reporting to the Resident Manager, you will take primary responsibility for three core areas while supporting broader hall operations as required: Pastoral Care & Leadership: Hold direct line leadership responsibility for the management, supervision, and development of our part-time Resident Adviser (RA) team, including performance support, coaching, and day-to-day guidance. You will provide frontline pastoral leadership to residents, responding to welfare concerns and escalating serious issues in line with Hall processes. Administration & Operations: Deliver crucial administrative support, including purchasing, financial reconciliation, email management, and overseeing frontline customer care (e.g. check-in/out and key management). You will also manage operational tasks such as monitoring contractor services and conducting building checks. Community Engagement: Promote a positive residential culture that is inclusive, respectful, and connected. In partnership with the Resident Manager and key staff, you will support the planning and delivery of student events and initiatives that strengthen student engagement and belonging. Hours of work: Sunday to Thursday, 14:30 to 22:30 (2:30 PM to 10:30 PM). At times, you will be required to work outside of these hours to support key residential and accommodation events, with advance notice provided. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position. The salary range for this role is $62,000 to $72,000, negotiable depending on skills and experience. Ideally, you will have first-hand experience of living in a hall of residence as a student. Your application will stand out if you have worked within similar educational or support environments. We are seeking a team player with supervisory or mentoring experience and a warm, open communication style. High personal integrity is essential to uphold respectful standards in a diverse community while maintaining strict professional boundaries. You must be experienced in multifaceted roles, with previous involvement in event planning and operations, and demonstrate a willingness to take the initiative and embrace new learning. Do you work best in the evenings and enjoy a slower start to the morning? This role is perfect for a "night owl," as you will be working afternoon-to-evening shifts, including weekend on-call duties (on a rotating basis, approximately one week in three). E rapua ana mātou | We are seeking A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (or equivalent professional experience), ideally complemented by experience living in student accommodation. Up to five years of experience in business support and/or event management, including 1–2 years in a complex support role. Proven leadership experience, including the ability to supervise, coach, and support staff performance. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with a confident, level-headed personality. A full, clean driver’s licence (as some driving will be required).
