Colliers Engineering & Design’s professional engineers and technicians successfully oversee project construction from pre-construction through finalization with an outstanding track record for cost and schedule containment. Our ACI, SAT, and NICET certified construction professionals have extensive on-the-job experience in supervision, observation, safety oversight and inspection with ongoing training that ensures required daily schedules are adhered to and all materials are procured and constructed according to plans and specifications. We work with our clients to achieve the optimum value, schedule, and project quality for heavy highway, single and multi-span bridges, intersection and traffic signal improvements, marine improvements, water/wastewater transmission, building and vertical project management, park and recreation construction, and condition assessment and asset inventory.
Our construction professionals understand the impact construction projects have on the surrounding communities and foster public relations and communications with the local business owners, residents, and elected officials in the surrounding communities.
Candidates should have experience with contractors for related NYSDOT or locally administered projects, and experience working for clients such as NYSDOT/municipal clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to lead other inspectors or act as solo inspector for the construction inspection of bridge and highway construction projects.
  • Measure and calculate quantities and document work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches.
  • Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection including pay estimates, change orders, daily work reports, quantity checking, meeting minutes, material certifications, etc.
  • Ensures work is completed in accordance with NYSDOT specifications.
  • Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisive decisions.
  • Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project.
  • Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.
  • Lead other construction inspectors while providing coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology is preferred.
  • 10+ years of construction engineering/inspection experience is required; Experience in Regions 1 and 8 are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • NICET IV certification is required.
  • Proficiency with APPIA as a Construction Administration tool is required.
  • Prior experience with AASHTOWare Project Construction & Materials software is required.
  • Leadership and decisive decision making skills.
  • Comfortable with using computers and adapting to software.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $42.16 to $67.93 per hour (depending on qualifications)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors on a project site for extended period of time.
