Job Description AECOM is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer for a major Freight Facilities Project located in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi. The Resident Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing the site supervision team and ensuring that all construction activities are executed in accordance with the contract requirements, project specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedule. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of infrastructure and freight facility works, coordinate with stakeholders and authorities, manage contractor performance, and ensure compliance with project objectives and international best practices. Job Duties Lead and manage the site supervision team for the Freight Facilities Project in Ruwais. Monitor the Contractor’s work progress against the approved construction programme and identify potential delays or risks. Ensure compliance with Contract Documents, specifications, approved drawings, and project procedures. Supervise construction activities related to freight facilities, roads, utilities, logistics yards, service corridors, drainage, and associated infrastructure works. Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, and technical submissions. Coordinate with Clients, Authorities, Contractors, Stakeholders, and other consultants to ensure smooth project execution. Monitor site safety implementation and ensure compliance with project SH&E requirements and safety regulations. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify quality of workmanship and materials. Review and certify contractor interim payment applications. Evaluate and prepare Variation Orders, Change Orders, Claims, and Extension of Time recommendations in accordance with the Contract. Monitor testing and commissioning activities and ensure compliance with project specifications. Maintain proper documentation and records related to progress, quality, safety, inspections, and contractual matters. Prepare and review weekly and monthly progress reports. Support project close-out activities, including snagging, testing & commissioning, as-built drawings, and handover documentation. Ensure effective coordination between all engineering disciplines and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Mentor and guide junior engineers and inspectors within the supervision team. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university. Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation is preferred. Specific Skills Required Strong experience in construction supervision of freight facilities, logistics hubs, industrial infrastructure, roads, utilities, and heavy civil works. Excellent understanding of FIDIC Contracts, particularly Red Book conditions. Strong knowledge of project planning, construction methodologies, contract administration, and claim management. Experience in coordinating with local authorities and stakeholders in Abu Dhabi/UAE. Ability to manage multidisciplinary supervision teams on large-scale infrastructure projects. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Proficient in modern construction management software and reporting systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Experience Minimum 20 years of overall experience in construction supervision and infrastructure projects. Minimum 10 years of experience as Resident Engineer on large-scale infrastructure or industrial developments. Previous experience in freight facilities, logistics infrastructure, industrial zones, ports, or major transportation projects is highly preferred. GCC/UAE experience is mandatory, preferably within Abu Dhabi region projects. Experience working on projects in remote locations such as Ruwais is an advantage.
