NAIK Consulting Group is hiring a Resident Engineer with experience in varied engineering disciplines to lead construction management activities on infrastructure, rail, and transit projects throughout the New York Area. This position will require significant time working in the field.
This individual will be the field point of contact for the client and project stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • · Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in resident engineering, construction management, project management, engineering, and related fields on major transportation/infrastructure projects for public agencies, such as MTA/NYCT, NJ Transit, PANYNJ, LIRR, AMTRAK is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and presentation abilities in internal project settings with senior management team, external project stakeholders including senior client management leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, staff supervision, strong negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 30-hour safety course is preferred.
  • MTA Track Safety training is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
  • Manages and supervises an assigned field office typically consisting of inspectors, cost and schedule professionals, and office engineers.
  • Prepares inspectors’ daily work schedules to ensure site safety monitoring, technical oversight, and quality of construction.
  • Plans and coordinates inspection and construction management activities.
  • Works in the project office with senior management team.
  • Provides supervision of the field inspection teams working the various shifts.
  • Interfaces with multiple contractors to ensure coordination of construction activities.
  • Evaluates, resolves, and provides solutions to contractors and construction inspectors for constructability issues encountered at construction sites.
  • Acquires railroad and transit force account resources in a timely manner to meet aggressive project schedules and support the ongoing construction.
  • Develops and implements an effective schedule of values for payments, change order control and evaluation system.
  • Evaluates and validates contractor’s change order requests again contract documents.
  • Negotiates change orders and schedule impacts and makes recommendations to the Client.
  • Has knowledge and experience in performing inspection and resident engineering activities in active transit system environments, construction safety standards, operation requirements and force account support services.
  • Develops and implements Construction Management Plans including confirming progress, reviewing issues and actions, and ensuring quality and safety.
