Martin Equipment is a John Deere Construction Dealership, 4th generation family-owned for almost 100-years. We have an immediate need for a fully-remote, full-time Resident Field Technician. The technician would report to our Tolono, IL store location but work (and live, ideally) in the following Illinois counties: Douglas, Edgar, Coles, Clark, Cumberland and Shelby, and possibly others. Working hours are typically Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 5:00pm, occasionally Saturday. Position Overview Title: Heavy Equipment Resident Field Technician Department: Service Employment Status: Full-time Supervisor: Service Manager Location: Remote (based out of Tolono, IL; field work within Douglas, Edgar, Coles, Clark, Cumberland and Shelby counties, possibly others) Primary Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections on diesel equipment. Travel daily to customer sites for field service. Operate and maintain a field service truck. Diagnose issues, request parts, and document service for invoicing. Ensure compliance with safety regulations from the company, government, and equipment vendors. Requirements Experience: 3–5 years in diesel equipment repair (hydraulic and electrical systems). Education: Technical training and ability to read schematics preferred. License: Valid Class A CDL preferred and good driving record. Skills: Strong verbal, mathematical, and technical skills. Physical Demands Standing, climbing, bending, and lifting (50+ lbs). Use of computers and tools. Adequate hearing and vision for equipment inspection and communication. Work Environment Exposure to petroleum solvents, extreme temperatures, and mechanical equipment. Occasional work at heights. PPE Provided Includes protective glasses, gloves, and boots. Responsibilities
The Resident Field Technician will perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections on diesel equipment while traveling to customer sites for field service. They will also operate and maintain a field service truck and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
