Position Overview:
Finning is looking for a field experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal preferred) to join our team dedicated to servicing our customers in the Houston/Smithers area on a Monday to Friday Shift. As the Resident Mechanic, you will be responsible for the troubleshooting and repair of Caterpillar and other manufactures attachments related to Forestry and General Line equipment.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions

  • Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar Equipment and other manufactures attachments related to Forestry and general line equipment
  • Interface with customers, products and sales support
  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
  • Various related duties as required

Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement

Specific Skills & Experience

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification (Red Seal is an asset)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience repairing equipment
  • Must be proficient in all machine systems such as engines, emissions, electrical, hydraulic and powertrain
  • Must be fluent in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics and well versed with control systems
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and computer literate
  • Experience with Costwatcher, DBS, SIS and Warranty Systems as well as a good understanding of Finning systems, would all be assets
  • Successful candidate will need to be customer orientated and motivated to meet the customer’s expectations
  • Ability to work safely with minimal supervision
