VETERINARY NEUROLOGY AND NEUROSURGERY (ECVN APPROVED RESIDENCY PROGRAM)
If you are looking to become a specialist in Neurology and Neurosurgery, this is a unique opportunity to apply for a residency in a dynamic, professional environment within the largest neurology team of the Benelux. The training will be based at our two Evidensia hospitals in Arnhem and Waalwijk, built to be state of the art neurology centers, offering a high and varied neurology/neurosurgery caseload in a flexible and stimulating work environment.
We are seeking an ambitious and motivated veterinarian who is determined to balance the demands of clinical work, publishing, and preparing for the board examinations. A passion for neurology and neurosurgery, with several years of clinical experience, is essential, and it is preferable that you have already completed at least one internship programme.
Both referral hospitals run a 24/7 emergency clinic with around the clock veterinary and nursing care. We offer specialist referrals in emergency/critical care, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, neurology/neurosurgery, ophthalmology, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging and dermatology. Our specialist disciplines are supported by EBVS (European Board of Veterinary Specialisation) boarded specialists in anesthesiology.
Our hospitals have complete diagnostic imaging departments, including Canon 1.5 Tesla MRI, 64 slice CT, EMG and EEG facilities, digital x-ray, ultrasound and fluoroscopy. All advanced diagnostic imaging is reported by one of our radiologists or the eminent VetOracle Neuroradiology service. Both neurology centers are equipped with electrodiagnostics as a part of our diagnostic workups.
We perform various kinds of neurosurgical procedures, from muscle and nerve biopsies and routine as well as advanced spinal surgeries to intracranial operations in our surgery suite, which includes three fully equipped theatres. To support our patients’ recovery post-surgery, we have an intensive care unit for immediate post-operative care and physiotherapists managing long-term rehabilitation, complemented by a large rehabilitation suite with an underwater treadmill.
As a successful candidate you will work alongside, and learn from, our four ECVN Diplomates (Niklas Bergknut, Iris van Soens, Paul Mandigers, Koen Santifort) and our residency trained neurologists (Esther Lichtenaur, Marta Plonek and Quinten van Koulil).
