Coho Technology Solutions is seeking a Resident Service Support Specialist for 6-months to provide on-site technical expertise in support of mission-critical IT systems at Quantico, VA. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing IT and transport network systems to ensure reliable day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with deep technical expertise in DWDM transport systems, strong system administration skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer support in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years of experience in technical support or IT systems administration.
• Hands-on experience with DWDM transport systems, including provisioning and maintenance.
• Knowledge of optical transport systems and experience transitioning Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technologies to DWDM.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Proficiency in operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Red Hat, and Linux.
• Expertise with DWDM management tools such as Ciena Site Manager and Ciena Manage, Control, and Plan (MCP) Domain Controller.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, hardware, and troubleshooting tools.
• Familiarity with IT frameworks and change management practices.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Availability for occasional after-hours or weekend work to support critical issues or system updates.

• Operate, monitor, and maintain Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) transport networks.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to optical transmission, equipment failures, and signal degradation.
• Provision, test, and integrate new DWDM circuits and devices.
• Collaborate with vendors and service providers to optimize performance and reliability.
• Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Monitor and maintain IT systems, servers, workstations, and network equipment.
• Perform regular updates, patches, and backups to ensure system integrity and security.
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
• Maintain IT asset inventory and coordinate procurement, upgrades, and repairs.
• Support and document IT change management activities, including risk assessments and training.
• Ensure compliance with IT security standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare system performance reports and maintain detailed logs of support activities.
