QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working as a Residential Care Officer or similar role.
  • Diploma or degree in community and health care services
  • Current Police Clearance
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and NDIS Workers Screening
  • Awareness of NDIS policies and procedures
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in residential, disability, or aged care settings.
  • Strong knowledge of person-centered support and individual care plans.
  • Experience assisting clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Skilled in supporting individuals with complex needs, including mental health and behavioral support requirements.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate case notes and incident reports.
  • Experience fostering community participation and social engagement for residents.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, duty of care, and relevant NDIS or aged care quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Residential Care Officer with strong leadership qualities to join our team. In addition to providing high-quality care and support to residents, this role involves leading by example, coordinating daily care activities, and mentoring junior staff to ensure consistent delivery of person-centered care.
You will take an active role in fostering a positive, respectful environment where residents feel valued and safe. Your responsibilities will include supporting residents with daily living tasks, promoting their independence, and monitoring their wellbeing, while also guiding and supporting team members to uphold care standards.
Effective communication, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills are essential, as you will liaise with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and management. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, participate in staff training, and ensure compliance with all organizational policies, NDIS guidelines, and safety regulations.
This role may require working flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, to maintain the highest level of care for our residents.

MAIN TASKS OF THE ROLE

  • Provide guidance and support to junior care staff and volunteers during shifts.
  • Lead by example in delivering high-quality, person-centered care.
  • Coordinate daily care activities to ensure smooth and efficient delivery service.
