Description

The residential care worker position is responsible for the daily operation of the residence which includes the primary duty for intensive support and supervision of conditionally released female offenders in a therapeutic manner in accordance with the Correctional Service of Canada CBRF standards, Public Safety standards, Court instructions and the philosophy/mission of Coverdale Centre for Women Inc.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • high school completion and/or recognized two (2) years of post secondary schooling in the area of Human Services or Criminal Justice Training is desirable
  • one year of experience providing supervision and therapeutic support in a community based residential home would be an asset
  • experience and sensitivity regarding issues relating to justice involvement, learning disabilities, homelessness, poverty and addiction
  • you must have the ability to demonstrate cultural competence and respect for diversity
  • active participation in the following training programs
    o non violent crisis intervention and/or MANDT
    o Mental health First Aid
    o maintaining boundaries
    o prevention of abuse
    o report writing
  • First aid/CPR with required re-certification is a condition for all front line staff positions
