JOIN OUR TEAM AS A RESIDENTIAL YOUTH SUPPORT WORKER!

Are you driven by purpose and passionate about helping young people reach their full potential? At MacKillop Family Services, our Out Of Home Care (OOHC) program is on the front lines of supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged youth — and we’re looking for compassionate, dedicated individuals like you to be part of something truly meaningful.
As a member of our team, you won’t just be providing in-home care — you’ll be a mentor, a supporter, and a trusted guide. You’ll have the chance to make a real impact every single day by helping young people feel safe, valued, and empowered to build brighter futures.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Join us as a Residential Youth Support Worker and help create a safe, culturally strong home for children and young people involved in the Child Protection system. Your presence and your story can make a powerful difference in a young person’s life.
In this role, you’ll be more than a support worker — you’ll be a mentor, a steady hand you will walk alongside our young people through the ups and downs, helping them build trust, learn life skills, and grow strong in who they are.

YOUR TASKS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Supporting young people’s emotional and practical needs – offering a listening ear and helping out when they need it most.
  • Encouraging personal growth and well-being – helping them build skills, confidence, and a positive outlook on life.
  • Managing the behind-the-scenes tasks – taking care of the day-to-day admin and helping the household run smoothly.
  • Creating a positive environment – ensuring the space stays welcoming, stable, and supportive for everyone.
  • Providing a nurturing home environment, including cooking nutritious meals and encouraging our young people to eat a healthy, balanced diet.

TO BE A GREAT FIT FOR THIS ROLE, YOU’LL NEED:

  • A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or a similar, relevant qualification plus the completion of x4 ‘Residential Skill Set’ units).
  • A valid driver’s license (you’ll need it to get around).
  • Working with Children Check, Criminal History Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check (we’ll help with this if needed).
  • A genuine passion for helping young people thrive and a caring heart.
  • Empathy, with the ability to connect with young people in a non-judgmental way.
  • Strong emotional self-regulation skills – you’ll be the steady hand that provides safety, consistency, and stability to those in your care.
