    We are a dynamic COA accredited service delivery agency that offers resources to youth between the ages of 12-19 years old in Surrey, BC and its surrounding areas. We pride ourselves in our innovative, flexible and creative approach in the service we provide. We are looking for like-minded, energetic allies to join our team.     We serve a demographic of female youth with multiple barriers, vulnerabilities, and who have experienced trauma.
    We are currently hiring full-time and part-time Residential Caregivers to work with our girls. These are 24 hour shifts that require you to sleep overnight at our youth care resources. Hours will vary depending on your availability.
    Our homes provide a safe and caring environment and offers support, encouragement, and ideas for youth who are often not involved in school or community programs. Our youth struggle with a range of trauma-based issues including addictions, attachment difficulties, social skill deficits, anger management, contact with law enforcement, the sex trade and, mental health/illness.
    We create individualized plans with a care team that address the youth’s mental health, social, behavioural, and emotional needs offering supports and guidance to achieve wellness, personal growth and independence.

YOU MUST HAVE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH COMPLEX YOUTH.

  • You bring:
  • Minimum 2 years post-secondary training in field related to child and youth care or community support work.
  • Experience supporting children/youth with complex needs and the ability to perform well under pressure and handle crisis situations and conflict.
  • Ability to maintain a non-judgmental and empathetic attitude in the face of a variety of behaviors, in terms of culture, religion, race, creed, sexuality, ability or physical appearance.
  • Ability to maintain strong personal boundaries with the youth and staff.
  • Sound oral communication skills and the ability to relay important information as needed.
  • Sound written communication skills, ability to fill out paperwork correctly and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • Satisfactory Consolidated Criminal Record Clearance (CCRC) through the Ministry of Children and Family Development’s Centralized Services HUB.
Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for youth with complex needs to develop skills and be involved in the community.
  • Supporting the youth to identify goals and desired outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively within a care team and others who support the individual.
  • Maintain appropriate and timely documentation.
  • Participate and maintain the resource in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
  • Participate, plan, and engage youth in meal planning, activities including all preparation or as directed.
  • Engage in daily duties with a positive attitude while communicating effectively within a care team
