Duties include:

  • Providing care and support to youth with developmental disabilities, and assisting in their developmental growth and success;
  • Assisting individuals with activities of daily living, personal care, including personal hygiene and self-care, which may include transfer of function duties such as gastrostomy feeding, tracheostomy and ventilation management, and suction and bowel management;
  • Medication administration;
  • Developing and participating in community activities and opportunities to enhance inclusion and acceptance;
  • Ensuring a safe environment for everyone;
  • Effective communications with management, families and other stakeholders;
  • Participating and contributing in the planning process related to the individual’s Personal Life Plan; and
  • Assisting with maintaining and building effective relationships.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Certificate in a related human/social service field. Two years recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in providing care and support to children and youth is preferred.
  • Two-year related experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or physical/medical/behavioral support needs, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is preferred.
  • Negative TB test is required.
  • Possessing a valid Driver’s license and a clear driving record are required.
  • A BC class 4 driver’s license is required for permanent positions no later than 90 days of hire.
