RESIDENTIAL PRACTITIONER, CHILDREN’S HOME BANK
Date: 22 May 2025
Job Location:Gloucester
This is a Gloucestershire County Council job.
We are currently looking to recruit Bank Residential Practitioners to support our Children’s Homes across Gloucestershire. If you are passionate about caring for our most vulnerable children and share our deep commitment in ensuring every child receives the care, love, and support they need to thrive, then we would love to hear from you.
ABOUT US
All our homes will offer a service to those children and young people for whom residential care is a placement of choice and assessed to be the most appropriate resource to enable them to fulfil their potential. We’re committed to working with our statutory partners as part of a trauma-informed, integrated approach which focuses holistically on what needs to change in order to achieve timely permanence.
We’re looking for people who can: Pick up late shifts and weekends, support unsociable hours, complete sleep-ins when needed, step in to cover last-minute rota gaps and help during times of increased staffing needs, such as during crises or high-risk periods.
ABOUT YOU
We want our teams to represent all walks of life and bring a wealth of different experiences, skills and knowledge. We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have relevant experience in supporting vulnerable children and young people, particularly if you are already qualified at Level 3 in Residential Child Care, but equally, if this is your first step into children’s services, and you can demonstrate the passion and commitment we’re looking for, don’t hesitate to submit your application.
Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people? We’re looking for compassionate, skilled individuals to join our team as Bank Residential Practitioners, providing flexible support in a nurturing, trauma-informed environment where children can thrive.
This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the day-to-day care and emotional wellbeing of children living in our residential homes. You’ll play a key role in building trusting relationships, supporting individual care plans, and helping children feel heard, safe, and valued.
Working on a casual basis gives you the flexibility to fit shifts around your existing commitments, while still playing a vital role in ensuring continuity of care. We welcome applicants with relevant qualifications or experience in supporting children and young people.
To be considered, you will need:
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the wellbeing of children in your care by working alongside them and ensuring you involve them in the day-to-day running of the home and specifically in their plans towards permanence. You will also collaborate with their families and work alongside linked foster carers, ensuring effective lines of communication. The role will also see you taking responsibility as a keyworker and attending meetings and reviews as required.
