A South Edmonton law firm is looking for a Residential Conveyancer - Intermediate

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a Legal Assistant program or equivalent work experience
  • Conveyancing: 3 years (required)
  • 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm working on residential real estate transactions
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with exceptional attention to detail ensuring a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well and thrive in a team environment
  • Knowledge of SPIN, PC Law, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Worldox or other electronic document management systems is an asset

Responsibilities
  • Review all Residential Real Estate Contracts
  • Draft and prepare all documentation pertaining to sale and purchase transactions
  • Prepare mortgage documents and deal with financial institutions
  • Communicate with clients, realtors, and financial institutions dealing with inquiries and requests
  • Request mortgage payout statements
  • Knowledge and ability to obtain title, tax, and PPSA searches
  • Draft and calculate Statements of Adjustments
  • Requisition mortgage funds
  • Prepare documents for submission to the Land Titles Office
  • Handle the receipt and disbursement of funds for transactions
  • Address issues as they arise
  • Complete the closing of transactions and report to clients and financial institutions
  • Collaborate with staff members and complete other tasks as required
