Responsibilities

A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE

Hillcrest House is a 5 bedded Children’s Home which accommodates children and young people who are care experienced and offers short breaks for children with additional needs on a bespoke basis. You will be part of a team, working to a rota to meet the needs of all the children and young people in our care. The children need consistent, caring, empathetic staff who will support them to develop to their full potential. An understanding of the impact of trauma and attachment theory would be very beneficial. Each child will have an individualised child plan with set outcomes which you will work towards as part of the team. Relating and understanding how children and young people may have experienced trauma is essential.
As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll be supporting our young people between the ages of 8 years to 18 to help them reach their potential and overcome challenges You’ll create a stimulating and engaging environment within Hillcrest House, whilst ensuring safety at all times.
You’ll plan and support young people in taking part in activities of their choice both at Hillcrest and out in the community. This helps them develop social and life skills. You’ll also provide support for daily tasks, attend to any emotional, social or personal care issues and administer medication, will be included in your role.
As we operate 24 hours/ 365 days a year shifts will be a mix of day shifts, back shifts, sleepovers and waking nights. Relevant training for this post will be provided within the organisation to ensure you are trained for this role.
