Description

We provide supported housing to vulnerable young people aged 16-25, to help them to gain independent living skills and to secure employment or education. We also support them on an emotional and practical level in their day-to day lives.
We are currently looking for a caring and committed staff who have relevant experience to work within small shared home settings. Preference will be given to candidates who have direct experience of working with LAC/UASC/Careleavers in a residential or supported housing setting.

Your duties will be:

  • To form caring, respectful and professional relationships with young people.
  • To contribute to the holistic assessment of the young person’s needs including writing and updating support plans and comprehensive risk assessments to identify any protection issues.
  • To work within the Outcomes Star framework (training will be given)
  • To assist young people in completing actions as identified in their support plan/risk assessment (i.e. help with claiming benefits, dealing with tenancy issues, finding employment training or education, registering with GP, Dentist, optician etc).
  • To provide emotional and practical support to young people in their daily lives and any issues which may arise.
  • To work through the ‘Get Ready for Adult Life’ programme with young people and complete practical tasks with them where necessary (e.g. cooking, shopping, facilitate group activities).
  • To deliver services within a solution-focussed brief therapy approach (training will be given) and act as a positive role model for young people.
  • To address wider support needs and encourage opportunities for personal development and achievement
  • To accompany young people on visits in the community or visit at their home address on a regular basis
  • To assist young people in making timely benefits claims and to monitor/intervene in ongoing claims as needed
  • To support young people in making asylum claims/attending Home Office appointments.

We are offering: Permanent contract 25 hours per week with option to cover more if needed. Hours mainly Mon - Fri 10am - 3pm. Some flexibility is required to work occasional longer days, evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the young people at the time.
