At Cornerstone Children’s Homes, we are looking for dedicated Residential Support Workers to provide one-to-one care in a solo residential placement in Reading. This is a unique opportunity to offer highly focused, trauma-informed support to a young person navigating complex emotional needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a full-time role offering a consistent 7:30 AM – 9:30 PM shift pattern with no sleep-ins, giving you the chance to provide stability and continuity for a young person in care. You’ll work as part of a small, specialist team to create a structured, therapeutic, and supportive home environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide trauma-informed, person-centred care tailored to one young person’s needs
• Support emotional regulation and mental health challenges with empathy and consistency
• Use trained de-escalation and safe intervention techniques (full training provided)
• Encourage independence through daily routines, personal care, and life skills development
• Participate in key working sessions and contribute to care plans and progress reports
• Build and maintain a safe, nurturing environment grounded in trust and stability
• Work closely with the wider care team and external professionals
