We create memories and experiences for our children that last a lifetime; where they feel truly loved, cared for, safe and secure.
Looking for a job where you can really make a difference?
At Edison Young People, that’s exactly what we do—every single day.
If you’ve got a big heart, loads of patience, and want to support children who’ve had a tough start in life, this could be the perfect role for you.
You’ll be part of a small, close-knit team who genuinely care—not just about the children, but about each other.
This is more than a job. It’s a chance to build positive memories, help young people heal from past trauma, and support them as they learn to trust, thrive, and feel at home.
    A bit about the role:
Every day is different. Some days are tough. But every day, you’ll be doing something that really matters.

You’ll:

  • Be a calm, steady presence in a child’s life when they need it most
  • Supporting children with daily routines—school, meals, homework, activities
  • Use a trauma-informed approach to help them feel safe, understood, and valued
  • Help young people manage their emotions and behaviours in a positive, respectful way
  • Working as part of a close-knit team that’s got each other’s backs and works together to give children the best care possible
  • Keeping the home tidy, safe, and a place to be proud of
  • Writing reports and logs to help keep things running smoothly and safely

You’ll need:

  • Life experience from any background – we’ll provide full training!
  • A calm, caring and reliable personality
  • Willingness to learn about trauma-informed care (don’t worry, we’ll teach you)
  • A full UK driving licence and be over the age of 21
  • Willingness to work shifts, including sleep-ins

What you’ll get in return:

  • £12.60–£13.97 per hour + £47.25 per sleep-in
  • Refer-a-friend bonus – earn up to £500!
  • Fully funded Blue Light Card – discounts across shops, restaurants & more
  • Cashback scheme – dental, optical & physio expenses covered
  • Free meals on shift – everyone eats together, just like at home
  • Fully funded qualifications & training – start or grow your career with us
  • Employee Assistance Programme – financial, mental health & wellbeing support through Health Shield
  • A full induction when you join, and ongoing support from a passionate, experienced team

A few more things:

  • We usually work around 11 day shifts (8am–11pm) per month, and 7–10 sleep-ins
  • We’ll support you through your Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare if you don’t already have it
  • You’ll always have people around who’ve got your back—our teams really are like family
