RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT WORKER

Salary: up to £29,500 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Chesterfield
Contract/Hours: Permanent/Full Time Waking Nights 10pm -7.30am.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

Yew Tree is an exciting new residential home that offers accommodation and support for children and young people up to 18 years of age with both physical and learning disabilities. We pride ourselves on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every individual can thrive.
As a Residential Support Worker waking Nights, you will play a vital role in helping our young people achieve their personal goals and develop their independence.
We are looking for qualified support workers to join our growing team, however we are open to applications from candidates who are eager to work towards obtaining this qualification on our career pathway.

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families
  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role
  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.

Responsibilities

A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Residential Support Worker Waking nights, you’ll be expected to offer emotional support, practical advice, and mentorship to young people, helping them essential life skills and build their confidence.
A primary expectation is ensuring our young people’s safety and wellbeing by creating and maintain a secure and supportive environment. This involves following safeguarding procedures, managing challenging behaviours, and responding effectively to emergencies. You’ll also be responsible for understanding and implementing individual care plans, working closely with other professionals to ensure the young people’s needs are met. This includes adapting support strategies to accommodate varying levels of ability in providing personalised assistant to help each young person thrive.
Promoting independence is important, you’ll support young people in developing their skills to the best of their abilities, assisting them with tasks such as personal care, household chores and participating in social and recreational activities. The level of support will vary depending on the individual needs, focusing on fostering a sense of accomplishment and well-being.
Accurate time keeping is essential, so you’ll be expected to document daily activities common incidents and progress as well as contribute to reports and reviews.
