THE OPPORTUNITY

Kingfisher Bay Resort is currently seeking a Resort Ranger to join our team. If you are outgoing, enthusiastic and passionate about sharing your knowledge of the environment, then we would like to hear from you!

SKILLS, QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role you will need to be comfortable with public speaking, a team player, well presented, enjoy working outdoors and adapting to variable weather conditions.

  • Degree in Environmental Sciences, Animal Ecology, Marine Sciences, Outdoor Education or similar is required.
  • First aid & CPR or ability to obtain within 1 month of commencement
  • Queensland Paid Blue Card (working with children check clearance) or ability to obtain within 1 month of commencement
  • A valid QLD Driver’s License
  • Industry Authority (Drivers Authorisation) highly regarded or ability to obtain within 3 months of commencement
  • Right to live and work in Australia indefinitely

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Resort Ranger is responsible for providing engaging and insightful guest experiences through our diverse range of immersive nature-based programs and activities. Our ranger-guided activities facilitate the resort’s weekly “What’s on guide” and include Canoe Paddles, Presentations, Segway Tours, Bush Tucker tastings, a diverse range of guided walks, Junior Ranger programs, Archery & Personalised tours out on the island.
Environmental interpretation is a key aspect of this position, involving the communication of diverse topics related to the island’s fauna, flora, ecology, history, and culture. As a Resort Ranger we aim to provide exceptional experiences for our guests, motivating and inspiring a greater understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural values of K’gari.
Additionally, our resort rangers deliver outstanding customer service by anticipating guest needs and surpassing service expectations. They assist the front office team with bookings and inquiries, ensuring guests have the essential information to enhance their stay at the resort. This position is a permanent part time live-on position.

KEY ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Interpretive walks and presentations to groups of 20-30 people
  • Leading canoe paddles, Segway Tours and Archery, must have a good level of fitness
  • Meet & Greet guests on arrival their arrival to Kingfisher Bay Resort
  • Working with children in our Junior Rangers and School group programs
  • Running school/conference group activities including raft building, scavenger hunts and hut building.
  • Guest transfers and personalised tours via 4WD vehicle
  • Ability to work during peak seasonal periods and on weekends
  • Ability to work across a broad rostering system, over 10 day working fortnight
