2026 SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY - RESOURCE CENTER Are you interested in library sciences or collections management and looking to gain hands-on experience archiving visual resources? The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex in Sheboygan, WI, is seeking a summer intern to join our Resource Center team. The Resource Center houses an art library, various archival collections, and an extensive image and audiovisual collection. It serves a variety of users, including staff, researchers, and members of the public. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in how a cultural institution connects with its community and beyond. What You will Do Assist with preservation and processing of library and archival collections Digitize photographic prints, slides, and documents Assist with updates to image database Catalog print materials and electronic resources Provide general administrative support to Resource Center staff as needed Who You Are A current undergraduate or graduate student (or recent graduate) in library science, museum collections, and/or archives management or related field Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently on individual projects Computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Photoshop, and scanning software and hardware Ability to work with us at our nearby locations/events, Drivers License a plus What You will Gain Real world experience with corporate/institutional archiving practices, including processing and organizing both physical and digital archives Experience using a museum collection database Mentorship from experienced archivists and librarians Insight into how cultural institutions share and document their collections/programs with diverse communities Summer 2026 Internship Dates June 2 – August 21 (may be flexible); 29 hours a week, including some nights and weekends. Required dates: June 6, July 4, July 17 – 19 This is a paid internship. Interns may also be eligible to receive course credit for this internship through their school, but it is the intern's responsibility to pursue this option through their school or university.
