EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Early Childhood Educator diploma
  • Graduate certificate as a Resource Consultant
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) First Aid/CPR
    Certification

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Extensive hands-on experience of at least 2 years in providing service with a special

needs population in an early learning environment

  • Previous work experience with children with special needs.
Responsibilities
  • Administration of assessments, direct observations and interactions

    • Provide support to clients
    • Provide support to Early Learning staff via recommendations, strategies, modelling,

coaching, resources/equipment, professional development

  • Provide support to Child Care Enhancement Worker
  • Provide support to parent via education, advocacy, home visits, recommendations,

strategies, provision of resources/equipment

  • Case management and coordination of services
  • Transition to alternate placements i.e. school, Early Learning environment, moving
  • Promote consistency between home/school
  • Supervise student placements
  • Complete case notes, behaviour plans, reports, assessment, referrals
  • Maintenance of Early Learning/client files
  • Care plans

    • Family Service Plans
  • Collaborate with other agencies/professionals

  • Develop and implement workshops, presentations, in-services
  • Support community i.e. CAS teen group, professional development, regional

networks

  • Provide guidance through mentoring opportunities
