You will play a critical role in ensuring that the right people are assigned to the right projects at the right time. Their work directly impacts project delivery, employee engagement, and overall business efficiency.

Responsibilities

Staffing & Allocation:

  • Match consultants or professionals to client projects based on skills, availability, and career goals
  • Balance workloads across teams to avoid burnout or underutilization
  • Resolve staffing conflicts and navigate escalations with the support of the business, proposing creative alternatives while understanding prioritization
  • Acquiring and maintaining deep knowledge of clients and skills needs to support quality project execution
  • Collaborate/engage with colleagues and the business to encourage resource sharing across all areas within the firm

Forecasting & Capacity Planning:

  • Work with business leaders to forecast demand for resources based on pipeline and upcoming projects
  • Identify gaps in capacity and / or skills and recommend hiring or contractor solutions
  • Providing information to relevant colleagues for the monthly forecast process to include shortages/surpluses, headcount management, and opportunities to increase utilization

Utilisation Tracking:

  • Monitor billable hours and utilization rates to ensure teams are meeting targets
  • Provide reports and insights to leadership on resource performance

Talent Development Support:

  • Collaborate with HR and Talent Acquisition to align staffing with career development plans
  • Help identify stretch assignments or learning opportunities for team members
  • Minimizing operational impact from employee turnover by implementing effective backfill strategies
  • Partnering with People & Culture (P&C) teams to understand resource performance and collaborating with P&C to ensure scheduling decisions support development and growth of professional staff
  • Serving as a point of contact for available team members within assigned coverage areas
  • Influencing retention through effective relationship management by understanding and aligning to employee preferences and career goals
  • Participating in practice-wide strategic initiatives and projects in support of resource management strategy

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with project managers, department heads, and client leads to understand project needs
  • Act as a liaison between delivery teams and leadership to resolve conflicts or bottlenecks.

System & Data Management

  • Use resource management tools (like Retain, Mavenlink, or Float) to track availability and assignments
  • Maintain accurate data on skills, certifications, and preferences
  • Provide analysis around key metrics such as availability, utilization and open role status
  • Identify issues, trends and forecast vs. actual variances to drive operational excellence
  • Maintain a steady pulse on resource shortages and surpluses in assigned coverage areas
