POSITION PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE

This position undertakes relief work to directly contribute to the provision of effectively run
waste management facility and kerbside collection services to the community. To work
within and contribute to a multi-skilled team that promotes Council’s service image by
providing courteous, responsive, and effective customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To work within and contribute to a multi-skilled team environment.
• Undertake relief work as required.
• To improve public understanding of Council’s waste and recycling services
• To provide high quality customer service
• Participate in the review of all work procedures as directed and attend toolbox

meetings as required.

• Maintain and submit records as relevant and required for the service.
• Carry out all duties required to collect domestic waste using a side arm collection

vehicle.

• Carry out all duties required to operate the kerbside Booked Waste Service
• Carry out all duties required to operate the weighbridge at the Resource Recovery &

Waste Management Facilities

• Carry out duties required with operating the Small Vehicle Area at the Resource

Recovery & Waste Management Facilities

• Operate relevant machinery to effectively assist in the day-to-day operations of the

Resource Recovery & Waste Management Facilities. This includes, but is not limited
to:
o Excavator (both tracked and wheeled) Operation.
o Tracked Loader Operation
o Wheel Loader Operation
o Water Cart Driver
o Hook lift Truck Driver
o Forklift Operation
o Material Handler Operation
o Landfill Compacting
o Cardboard Bailing
o EPS recycling (Polystyrene)

o Weighbridge Operation

• Other relief work relating to the waste collection services:

o Parks and Town Centre Waste Collection
o Bin deliveries and repairs
o Wheel out, wheel back service
