Description
UPMC Children's Hospital is currently seeking a Casual Respiratory Care Intern! Respiratory Care Interns (students) will develop the ability to gain additional clinical experience and knowledge prior to the completion of their education in a CoARC approved Respiratory Care program and their subsequent credentialing as a licensed RCP. Primary Responsibilities: Participate in clinical research, maintain accurate records, and document patient interactions. Communicate with healthcare personnel and exhibit service excellence. Perform various respiratory therapies, including chest physiotherapy, flutter valve, PEP, incentive spirometry, humidification, nebulization, BiPAP/CPAP, IPPB, aerosolized drugs, and pulmonary function testing. Assist in transporting patients requiring respiratory support and ensure proper respiratory equipment management. Administer therapeutic gases, replace and monitor compressed gas cylinders, and perform arterial punctures with aseptic technique. Provide, maintain, calibrate, and repair respiratory equipment. Conduct resting, titration, exercise, and nocturnal oximetry studies. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including airway management, ventilatory support, and external cardiac massage. Attend meetings, complete competencies, and stay updated on hospital policies and respiratory care. Ensure patient charges are entered daily. Currently enrolled in a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Care. The intern must have completed one semester of clinical rotations at a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Care.
