SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Respiratory Care Supervisor to join our our Respiratory Care Team.. This positions is full-time with benefits, 80hours per pay period, day shift.
Purpose of this position: Under administrative direction performs work involving the determination and administration of respiratory care procedures and monitoring patient progress and assists in managing and supervising respiratory care operations and personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from a two-year American Medical Association approved respiratory care program
  • Three years of increasingly responsible experience as a respiratory therapist

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advancement to registry level is strongly encouraged.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience to become proficient, including six (6) months at this facility

Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily respiratory care operations
  • Monitor competency of respiratory care staff to ensure level of care delivered meets standards
  • Coach, develop, and train staff to improve performance including initial orientation to role responsibilities
  • Schedule staff to align with staffing needs of department each shift
  • Provide technical assistance to students, staff and other medical personnel
  • Incorporate new technology into respiratory care operations
  • Assist manager with cost control and fiscal management of budget
  • Under general supervision of Manager of Respiratory Care, supervises and coordinates activities of employees on respective shift
  • Reviews daily work assignments for assigned shifts staff. Performs a full range of respiratory care to patients, including drawing arterial blood for ABG analysis, floor therapy, ventilator care
  • Provide therapists and technicians with technical assistance. Prepares quality assurance data for studies and evaluation of equipment and departmental services
  • Assist Manager of Respiratory Care with departmental training and orientation programs, including periodic equipment in services to respiratory and nursing staff
  • Evaluate work performance of employees and makes recommendations for hiring, promotions, demotions, transfer and other personnel actions, including disciplinary action and suspension. Investigate any incident reported on his/her shift; keeps departmental manager informed of details of such occurrences
  • Attend all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job related hazards, and hospital infection prevention standards
  • Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Blood borne and Airborne Pathogens
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team interdepartmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives
  • Maintain equipment in working order. Review supply/equipment needs of department and make recommendation to manager
  • Audit for compliance with standards set for respiratory staff
